Celebrating Life Community Health Center is excited to share that we now have retinal cameras. This new technology lets our providers take high-quality images of the back of your eye (the retina) right here on-site — no extra trip required.
Why Retinal Eye Exams Matter
The retina is the only place in the body where blood vessels can be seen directly, making retinal exams a powerful tool for early detection. With just a quick, painless photo, our team can check for conditions such as:
-
Diabetic retinopathy (damage to the eyes caused by diabetes)
-
Glaucoma
-
Age-related macular degeneration
-
High blood pressure damage
-
Other changes to the eye’s blood vessels or optic nerve
A Focus on Diabetes Care
For patients living with diabetes, regular retinal exams are especially important. Diabetes is the leading cause of preventable blindness in adults, and eye disease often develops without noticeable symptoms at first. With our new retinal cameras, we can catch these changes sooner and help protect your vision.
If you are a patient with diabetes, ask your provider if retinal screening is available at your clinic location. In many cases, it can be done the same day as your visit.
What to Expect
-
The exam is quick, noninvasive, and completely painless.
-
Special eye drops may or may not be needed, depending on the image.
-
Results are available right away and stored securely to track changes over time.
